How to Play
Once you have placed a stake on one of the three possible outcomes, the player and the banker are dealt two cards. You should note that all tens and face cards are worth zero, and Aces are worth one. The largest hand value is 9; therefore if the hand total exceeds 9, then the value is adjusted by subtracting 10 from the total. For example, if a player is dealt a 9 and a 6 the normal hand value would be 15. However, in Baccarat the actual hand value in this case would be 5.
Third Card Rule
A third card may be dealt to either or both the player and the banker based on the following rules:
- Rules for the player hand: if the player’s hand totals 6 or 7, then the player must stand without drawing a card. If the player’s hand totals 5 or less, then the player must draw an additional card. If the player’s hand totals 8 or 9 then both the player and dealer must stand.
- Rules for the banker hand: if the banker’s hand totals 7 or more, then the banker must stand without drawing a card. If the banker’s hand totals 0, 1, or 2, then the banker must draw an additional card. If the banker’s hand totals 3, 4, 5, or 6, then whether the banker draws another card or not is determined by whether the player drew, and if so the value of the player’s additional card.
Baccarat Payouts
- Winning player bets pay out 1 to 1.
- Winning banker bets pay out 1 to1 with the dealer getting a commission (usually 5%).
